Private Lessons:

Private lessons are an important part of developing musicianship and technique for young musicians. I believe that students learn deepest and most efficiently when they're engaged and challenged to be creative. I work diligently to cultivate a positive and engaging atmosphere for all of my students. Whatever the subject, I believe it can be taught in creative, fun, and exciting ways - and never only by rote and repetition.

I offer in-person and online lessons in 60 minute increments.

In-person lessons are available at my studio in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Online lessons are offered via Google Meet.

Please fill out this contact form for more information. I am always happy to setup consultation lessons by appointment.

Kenji is a fabulous instructor in some very important respects. First, he has a deep, working knowledge of music and is an accomplished sax player himself. Second, he knows how to convey his knowledge to his students in an interesting way. Third, Kenji is approachable and supportive which makes my son more willing to practice at home. We feel lucky to have found such a great sax teacher! If you’re serious about learning to play, I can’t recommend Kenji high enough!

Kenji is a wonderful teacher, and understands music in a way that helped me learn, and grow as a musician and person
— Zander S. (college student)
Kenji is a brilliant instructor. He combines a serious depth and breadth of knowledge with a real sensitivity for his student. He is supportive and encouraging, while he also pushes you to do your best. Simply put, he just knows how to teach, man. His knowledge of jazz and music in general is scholarly and his experience as a player is wide. I couldn’t recommend him more
— Ralph J. (adult student)
